Downloading Free Ebooks and Audio Books

by Amy Anderson

There are many libraries that are now offering ebooks and audio books that you can download onto your computer or your MP3 player or even in your iPod! Some libraries allow the user to download the ebook while sitting in the library while for other libraries, you don’t even have to visit the library; you can directly download the ebook while sitting comfortably in your home.

There is always a checkout period attached to every book issued from the library and the same rule applies to ebooks as well. After the stipulated time is over, the file is no longer available to you for downloading. But if you have already saved the ebook in your CD or MP3 player, then it is a different case. It will be available to you even after the checkout period is over.

To know the collection of titles available in your local library, you must first try to get information from your local librarian. He will be in a better position to describe to you all the options. This information is also generally available on the library’s web site. A company called Overdrive helps you search for the titles that are available with your local library. This service of putting the titles on the Internet is used by almost all libraries. However, you need to keep in mind that you will find your local library’s collection only if they use Overdrive’s services. If you don’t find it there, then it is possible that the library may be using some other company’s services.

You may face some problems while downloading some ebooks and audio books. Many libraries understand this problem and to solve this, they have free online or telephonic support to help out the user if he faces any technical difficulties during the downloading process.

So, all the services are ready and all you need to do is select a title, download the free ebook or audio book, and start reading!
